Upcoming in-person event:
Spirit Space: Healing & Meditation
Location: London at Glasshouse Salon
Sunday, 28 May, at 4 PM.
Over the last week, several clients have asked me how to call upon the guides for their support. The thing is, your guides are there with you all the time. You don’t strictly need to call upon them, even though they appreciate it.
With that said, your connection with your guides can be enhanced through the art of meditation. Yes, meditation is an art and a practice like everything else worth doing.
Meditation is the key to unlocking your psychic and spiritual development.
To start, you can use this guided meditation freely available on YouTube.
Your guides are not omnipotent
Many people think of spirit guides as omnipotent, and that could not be further away from the truth. They are not all-knowing, nor will they give you all the answers you want, even if they know them.
Our spirit guides only know a few steps ahead of us and, most of the time, only the general direction we are heading.
Most of our spiritual lesson is meant to be unknown; otherwise, what would be the point of being here? We would not be learning anything if there was a manual explaining every step of the way.
Being alive is meant to be a journey of discovery, exploration and learning.
Sometimes learning is pleasant; at other times, it’s incredibly uncomfortable even when we do “everything right”.
That’s just life.
You are not going through a challenging time because you are being punished. You are having a hard time because this is how life goes sometimes, and it is up to you to decide how you will respond.
I mostly only ask my guides for strength
Most of the time, I only ask my guides for the strength to endure and cope with whatever my spiritual lesson places in my path. I don’t ask them for a specific outcome because that would be pointless, as that is mostly out of their control.
Sometimes, my guides give me a forewarning of a challenge to come or a general direction to lead myself, but that is it.
Although, there are times when the guides will say, “Don’t do that” or “Do that”; however, it is still up to me to decide whether I will follow their guidance.
The presence of my guides only really comes to the forefront when I’m delivering a reading or a healing session. That is when they will give me answers when I’m in service of others.
So, what are spirit guides?
For those of you who don’t know what spirits guide are, they are spiritual forces, most often a spirit that we will have had a past life with where they had similar lessons to the one we are going through now.
Our spirit guides were allocated to us at birth, chosen from our past lives, as the connection between the spirits will be stronger. We have a spiritual lesson to move through whilst in the earthly realm; our spirit guides are also learning whilst being guides.
As I mention above, spirit guides are not omnipotent, and you should think of them more as university professors with access to more knowledge than ourselves. Like most professors, they will only give you some of the answers.
I don’t personally resonate with ascendant masters, angels or ancestors, but that does not mean that there is anything wrong with that; that’s just not how my mind works.
I either connect with my guides or directly with the power of spirit.
How do I call upon my guides?
As mentioned above, meditation is the key to connecting with your guides. If too much is going on in your mind, the guides will not be able to come through.
I sometimes say before I know I’m about to do something challenging: be my guide, be my help. That seems to work for me.
I know the name of my guides, so I also use that to get a feel for their presence, but this is all human and optional, although it feels nice.
I also ask my guides out loud to help me close down after a session.
Only by practising meditation regularly will calling upon them work.
