Tarot Energetic Forecast for May
The wound, the restoration, the ignition. Navigating May with the Empress, the Ten of Swords and the King of Wands.
Every month, I co-create a tarot energetic forecast together with my tarot deck, spirit guides and other intelligences in the greater energy field. This forecast offers some understanding of what we might expect from the month and how to navigate the energetic landscape ahead. My hope is that it brings a little reassurance and guidance. As we know, we are all moving through a challenging time collectively, to say the least.
The first card represents the overall theme, the second tells us why this showed up now, and the third shows us how to move forward.
Card 01: Theme — The Empress Upright
May offers a reprieve. After April’s Star Reversed, we have been given the Empress Upright. She is unhurried, deeply attuned, and entirely unconcerned with forcing outcomes. I use the word feminine here not as a reference to gender, but as an energetic current.
Imagine spending an entire day at a spa. Lush aromas, an extended massage, time in the pool and sauna. No agenda, nowhere to be. The Empress does not pack her day. She gives each thing its own time and space, and in doing so, she is fully present for all of it.
And think of soil. It needs the right conditions to flourish. The Empress knows exactly what is needed for flowers to bloom later on. She does not rush the bloom.
This month is a permission slip. Rest is not avoidance. It is preparation.
Card 02: Why now — The Ten of Swords Upright
On my deck, the Ten of Swords shows a figure lying face down with ten swords in their back. Nine was not enough, apparently. This card nods to what we are carrying collectively right now. And yet, it is not asking us to stay down. Yes, we are overwhelmed. Yes, much is out of our control. But there is still a question only we can answer: what are we going to do to stand back up?
Card 03: How to navigate this — The King of Wands
The Empress and the King of Wands in the same pull feels deliberate. Where she flows, he acts. Where she restores, he ignites. The King of Wands is bold, clear-eyed and unafraid of possibility. The invitation this month is to let both energies do their work. Rest deeply enough that when you move, you move with conviction.
My words for May: boldness and bravery.
Reading the three cards together
Read together, these three cards tell a complete story. The Ten of Swords names the wound. The Empress holds the restoration. The King of Wands carries the ignition. The pronouns I use for these archetypes are simply a way of speaking about energy, nothing more. What the tarot is saying this month is that you cannot rush to the fire without first tending to the soil. The Empress cleanses and attunes so that the King of Wands can find his flame. One cannot exist without the other.
And this all aligns beautifully with where we are astrologically. We have just moved from Taurus into Gemini, the season of exploration, openness and communication. Tend to your inner landscape. Then speak your truth from a confident place.
If this has stirred something in you, I’m hosting an Energy Alignment, Attunement and Clarity Call on 30 April for just £5. A space to tune in, clear what’s in the way, and find your own signal in the shift.
