Mind Training: The Practice of Inner Change
No one can do the work for you.
I can hold space for your healing and growth, but outside of our sessions together, it’s up to you to practise the exercises you're given—otherwise, nothing will change.
I truly believe we can train the mind in the same way we train the body—to grow stronger, to handle more pressure, and to meet challenges with greater resilience.
Over the past two years, I’ve been learning to sing. In the beginning, I couldn’t hold higher notes. But through daily, consistent practice and the support of my singing teacher, I’ve become much more capable than I was at the start.
There’s still a long way to go, but I’ve already come much further than where I began.
Shifting, changing, and transforming the perceptions of the mind might be the hardest task of all. Who we are is shaped by so many things—our upbringing, genetics, soul’s purpose, conditioning, and more layers we may never fully understand. Taking on the project of truly waking up is not for the faint-hearted.
A powerful place to begin is by recognising that much of what we believe—about ourselves, about others—is often based on assumptions that simply aren’t true, rooted in poor or incomplete information.
Even just becoming aware of this creates a tremendous sense of freedom.
You might ask yourself: What am I assuming that’s making me feel this way or stopping me from doing XYZ?
It really can be that simple. Make a list of your assumptions, then examine where they’ve come from and how they’re shaping your choices. This approach comes from the brilliant thinker Nancy Kline.
Start there. Then meditate. That alone will take you much further than most people ever dare to go.
