Dyregulating environments
As you can imagine, I read a fair amount of content around healing, self-help and psychology. I firmly believe that through inner work, we can make many shifts that will lead us to look at our lives differently. There will be times when our attitude of mind is faulty, and we can do some work to improve on that.
At the same time, we also have to be careful with taking this too far. Sometimes, it is not your fault that you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed and confused about why you are getting ill.
There will be times when it is actually the environment that you live in. And you have to leave. Certain people and places are toxic.
This could relate to a partner, work or friends. I’m going to say that again, sometimes, the environment is wrong for you, and actually, getting ill and stressed out is a natural response to a dysregulating environment. I want to clarify that you're getting dysregulated not because you are weak or not resilient, don't have the correct tools, or are not enough.
It just means that it is most likely inhumane.
Unless you have a great community who can helps you make this change, the buck still stops with you. When you notice that your environment is wrong for you, you have to take the inspired action to change. To leave your partner, change your friend’s group or job. Sure, we can try to take these people on a journey with us; however, sometimes, that is a lost cause, and you have to recognise when it is. Leaving is, of course, not the first port of call, but it is a vital option and beginning to make changes in your environment should be high up on the list.
We also have to remember that we live in a social environment as a society, which is in itself very toxic. The cost of living is increasing; if you can’t afford anything you like, you don’t have worth; companies want to grow incessantly; there are wars all over the place. All of that does not help either. These are harder to change, and in this area, you have to move more inward to know that you probably don’t need as much as you think you do, that there is a spiritual purpose for all things and let go of any comparison to other people.
